If you do not want to wait until Hunter Rank 49, there is an easy workaround. It is recommended to bring a group of high level players and wear the Thunderproof Mantle. Note: This is a tempered Kirin and one of the hardest fights in the entire game. Hunt large monsters after the story to rank up and get this quest. To unlock the nine star tempered Kirin quest (Thunderous Rumble In The Highlands), successfully complete the story and reach Hunter Rank 49 to unlock it as a main assignment on the questboard. This will make future Kirin encounters much easier. You also unlock the Thunderproof Mantle after completing the quest, when you report back to the Impatient Biologist.
